Igor Stromajer describes himself on his website as an ‘intimate mobile communicator’. He continues: “- researches tactical emotional states and traumatic low-tech strategies. He has shown his work at more than a hundred exhibitions in forty-two countries and received a number of awards. As artist in residence he lectures at universities and contemporary art institutes. His works are included in the permanent collections of various international museums”. However impressive the list is that follows more interesting is his statement: “I believe in intimacy, individualism, emotions, frustrations, traumas, artificial, communication, impossibility, mobility, montage, radicality, sensibility, silence, strategy, tactics, tears, orgasm, concept, pleasure, fantasies, philosophy, transfer, utopia and angels. I do not believe in media, tourism and the end. [Art is a dirty job, but somebody’s got to do it]”

In his work The Netherlands is respectful. Russia is corrupt. Štromajer is in search of current verdicts about the different countries from Eastern and Western Europe. They take the form of stereotypical sentences and surprising quotes and run parallel across the screen. The hierarchical devide between East and West changes once you try to read the sentences. The speed of the sentences makes the words tumble and meanings become interchangeable.

Visual Foreign Corespondents is a monthly series of audiovisual artworks for the public screen and online related to The Globalised Crystal Ball, an international debating program in De Balie. Distinguished artists from around the world are invited each month to give their personal visual commentary on events and situations from their local perspective.

It's a bit hard to access this old, hidden — and certainly completely forgotten — URL in a desktop browser (privacy error, but you can overpass it), I had more luck on the phone (screenshots). It's certainly an amazing find: it contains some of the rare online works before the year 2000 which I was unable to find at the current AE Future Lab website https://ars.electronica.art/futurelab/en. It's a pity that they don't take proper care of the past and older works they have on their servers. It also says a lot about how much new and recent works are actually worth and what fate awaits them in a few years.
Still in the basement, reorganizing my archive. Today's find: @artpress.revue, November 1999, Annick Bureaud, Utopies distribuées; and my 'e/motion HELP – is there anybody out there?'
The days are hot, so I'm cooling down in the basement while reorganizing my archive: @beauxarts_magazin, November 2003 – Sprinkling Menstrual Navigator becoming part of the @centrepompidou permanent collection
Tidying and reorganizing my archive, because it's too messy and I can't find things. The 1999 COMTECart (@cynetart today) Festival catalog had a cover with a graphic from my work b.ALT.ica. The poster as well, but I can't find it.
